Illustrations and Figures Submission Template
For Authors Submitting Manuscripts to the Center for Energy and Economics Studies
This template is designed to guide authors in submitting figures, tables, charts, and other visuals for inclusion in the manuscript titled "[Title of Manuscript]". The guidelines below should be followed to ensure that the visuals meet our publication standards.
1. General Guidelines for Figures and Illustrations
-
Numbering:
- Each figure or illustration should be numbered consecutively (e.g., Figure 1, Figure 2, etc.).
- Tables should be numbered separately (e.g., Table 1, Table 2, etc.).
- The numbering should correspond to the order of reference in the text.
- Each figure and table should have a caption that clearly explains its content and meaning.
-
Titles and Captions:
- Each figure or illustration must have a title (e.g., "Figure 1: Distribution of Energy Consumption by Region").
- The caption should describe the figure/table in a concise and explanatory manner.
- Captions should be placed below figures and above tables.
-
References in the Text:
- Figures and tables should be referred to in the text (e.g., “As shown in Figure 1…” or “Table 2 presents…”).
- Visuals should be cited in numerical order in the manuscript.
2. Image Guidelines
-
File Types:
- Acceptable formats: PNG, JPEG, TIFF, EPS, PDF.
- Vector images (e.g., diagrams, charts) should preferably be submitted in EPS or PDF format for clarity and scalability.
-
Resolution:
- Raster Images (e.g., photographs, scanned images): Minimum resolution of 300 DPI (dots per inch) for clear printing quality.
- Vector Images (e.g., charts, graphs): Resolution should be high enough to ensure clarity when scaled.
- Tables: Should be submitted in a standard editable format (e.g., Word, Excel) to ensure proper formatting in the final publication.
-
Color Mode:
- Use RGB (Red, Green, Blue) color mode for online or digital publication.
- Use CMYK (Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, Black) for print publications, if applicable.
-
Size and Dimensions:
- Figures should be large enough to be legible in the final published format.
- The maximum size should not exceed 10 MB per file.
- Aim for a resolution of 300 DPI at the final print size (e.g., 6x6 inches or 15x15 cm).
3. Submission Requirements
-
File Naming:
- Name each file with a descriptive title that includes the figure/table number (e.g., "Figure_1_Regional_Consumption.png" or "Table_2_Energy_Use_Statistics.xlsx").
-
Figure/Table List:
- Provide a list of all figures and tables at the end of your manuscript (or in a separate file), with the following information:
- Figure/Table number
- Title of figure/table
- File name(s)
- Source (if applicable)
- Provide a list of all figures and tables at the end of your manuscript (or in a separate file), with the following information:
-
Source Acknowledgment:
- If the figure, table, or chart is adapted or reproduced from another source, please provide full citation details in the caption (e.g., "Reprinted from [Author(s)], [Title of Paper], [Journal Name], [Year], [Publisher], with permission.").
4. Additional Considerations
-
Legibility and Clarity:
- Ensure that text within figures is large enough to be readable, even at smaller sizes.
- Avoid using too many colors that may make the figure cluttered or difficult to interpret. A simple color scheme with high contrast is preferred.
-
Consistency:
- Maintain a consistent style and format for all figures, tables, and captions throughout the manuscript. This includes consistent font, size, and color use, where applicable.
-
Submission Process:
- Upload your figures and tables via our online submission system or attach them in your email submission.
- Please also ensure that the manuscript file references the figures and tables by their correct numbers.
