Publication Ethics
At the Center for Energy and Economics Studies, we are committed to upholding the highest standards of academic integrity and transparency in all our publications. Our Publication Ethics are designed to guide authors, editors, and reviewers in maintaining the trust and credibility that are essential to the academic community. The following principles form the foundation of our approach to publishing:
- Ethical Conduct of Authors:
Authors are expected to adhere to the following ethical principles when submitting their work for publication:
- Originality and Plagiarism: Submissions must be original works of the authors, free from plagiarism. Proper citations must be provided for any previously published work or ideas that are referenced in the manuscript.
- Authorship: Only those who have made substantial contributions to the conception, design, execution, or interpretation of the research should be listed as authors. All authors must approve the final manuscript before submission and consent to being listed as authors.
- Acknowledgement of Sources: All sources, including research grants, contributions, and third-party work, must be properly acknowledged to ensure transparency.
- No Duplicate Submission: Manuscripts must not be submitted to multiple publishers simultaneously. Only one version of a manuscript may be under consideration for publication at any time.
- Ethical Conduct of Editors:
Our editorial team follows the highest ethical standards when reviewing and managing manuscripts. Editors are committed to:
- Impartiality: Editorial decisions should be based solely on the academic quality of the manuscript, without regard to the authors' personal characteristics, affiliations, or background.
- Confidentiality: Editors must treat all submitted manuscripts as confidential. Manuscripts should not be disclosed or discussed with third parties except as required by the peer review process.
- Conflict of Interest: Editors should recuse themselves from handling manuscripts if they have any financial, professional, or personal conflicts of interest with the authors or the content of the manuscript.
- Ethical Conduct of Reviewers:
Our reviewers play a critical role in maintaining the integrity of the review process. Reviewers are expected to:
- Confidentiality: All manuscripts under review must be treated as confidential. Reviewers should not disclose or discuss the manuscript with others.
- Impartiality and Objectivity: Reviews should be based on the quality and validity of the research, free from personal bias or conflict of interest.
- Constructive Feedback: Reviewers should provide clear, respectful, and constructive feedback, offering authors the opportunity to improve their work.
- Timeliness: Reviewers are expected to complete their reviews within the set timeline to ensure a smooth and efficient process.
- Transparency in Peer Review:
We value transparency and fairness in the peer review process. The Center for Energy and Economics Studies:
- Ensures that all submissions are evaluated fairly by qualified experts in the field.
- Follows a double-blind peer review process where both authors and reviewers remain anonymous to each other to avoid bias.
- Provides authors with detailed, constructive feedback to help improve the quality of their manuscripts.
- Conflict of Interest Disclosure:
All parties involved in the publication process—authors, reviewers, and editors—must disclose any potential conflicts of interest. This includes any financial, professional, or personal relationships that might influence the evaluation of the manuscript.
- Authors must declare any competing interests that may affect their research.
- Reviewers and editors must disclose any conflicts of interest that could influence their evaluation of a manuscript.
- Retraction and Correction of Published Works:
We are committed to the highest standards of research integrity. If significant errors are discovered in published works, we follow established procedures for:
- Corrections: Minor errors that do not affect the research conclusions will be corrected in the publication.
- Retractions: If significant issues arise that undermine the validity of the research (e.g., falsified data), a retraction will be issued, and the work will be removed from public access.
- Plagiarism Detection:
We use plagiarism detection tools to check for unacknowledged or improper use of others’ work. Any submission found to contain significant amounts of plagiarized content will be rejected, and authors may be subject to further investigation.
Summary:
- Transparency: We ensure transparency in the authorship, peer review, and editorial process.
- Integrity: We maintain the integrity of the publication process by enforcing ethical standards regarding originality, plagiarism, and conflicts of interest.
- Commitment to Quality: We are dedicated to providing high-quality, ethically produced scholarly work for the academic community.
