Conflict of Interest Disclosure
At the Center for Energy and Economics Studies, maintaining transparency and integrity in academic publishing is of utmost importance. Our Conflict of Interest Disclosure Policy is designed to ensure that all parties involved in the publication process—authors, reviewers, and editors—uphold the highest ethical standards by disclosing any potential conflicts of interest.
Policy Overview
- Definition of Conflict of Interest
A conflict of interest arises when personal, financial, professional, or other relationships could influence, or appear to influence, the impartiality or integrity of the publication process. - Responsibilities of Authors
- Authors must disclose any financial or non-financial support, affiliations, or relationships that could influence the content or interpretation of their manuscript.
- Examples include funding sources, institutional affiliations, employment, consultancies, stock ownership, or personal relationships with individuals involved in the editorial process.
- Responsibilities of Reviewers
- Reviewers must disclose any relationships or circumstances that could create a conflict of interest with the authors, institutions, or sponsors of the work under review.
- If a conflict of interest is identified, the reviewer should recuse themselves from the review process.
- Responsibilities of Editors
- Editors must disclose any conflicts of interest that could compromise their ability to make objective decisions.
- Editors are required to step aside from handling submissions where a conflict of interest exists, delegating the decision-making to another qualified editor.
- Disclosure Process
- All disclosures must be made at the time of manuscript submission, review acceptance, or assignment of editorial responsibilities.
- A disclosure statement will be included in the published work to ensure transparency for readers.
- Consequences of Non-Disclosure
Failure to disclose conflicts of interest may result in withdrawal of the manuscript, reassignment of the review or editorial task, or other appropriate actions in line with our ethical policies.
By implementing this policy, we aim to preserve trust in the research we publish and ensure that all stakeholders act with integrity and accountability. For questions about our Conflict of Interest Disclosure Policy, please contact us at support@ceesus.org.
